Renowned for its long-standing legacy of educational excellence, Billings Public Schools is the largest public school district in the state of Montana: a dynamic school district that offers a unique combination of rigorous academic standards and achievement, and family-friendly surroundings.
The intent of our website is to provide parents, students, staff, and community members with a wide variety of up-to-date and useful information about our school district's programs, news, numbers, standards, and accomplishments.
Please take time to explore our website and to get to know us. Most importantly, be involved in the education of your child, and partner with us to provide a quality education for all Billings students.
Elementary schools are now accepting registrations for kindergarten students for the 2011-12 school year. In order to plan for the appropriate number of teachers for our kindergarten classrooms, it is important for parents to register their children as soon as possible. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Registration Requirements:
The child must be five years old on or before September 10, 2011. (State Law)
Parent or guardian must present the child's birth certificate and a complete record of immunization. Please note that registration is not considered final until these are completed and received by the District.
While on the District's home page, a parent can do the following to begin the registration process of a kindergartener:
Click on the "Parents" button on the top row.
Click on the "Enrollment/Registration" button on the left side.
Read "How do I enroll my child in school?"
Under the sub-heading "Enrollment Form," click on "PK-12 Enrollment Form."
Print out and complete all four pages of the enrollment form. Be sure to sign the enrollment form.
Bring the enrollment form along with your child's birth certificate and complete record of immunization to the school to register your child.
How do I know which school my child will attend?
Remain on the Enrollment and Registration page.
Under the third heading, "How do I find out which school my child will attend?" click on the phrase "Click on this link." Once the program is launched, simply type in your home address. The program will then tell you which elementary school your child should attend.
Billings Public Schools is undertaking a long-range Strategic Planning process. Our goal is to take a look at the things that are most important to you in educating the children of Billings. This planning will provide a basis for how we manage our educational system, our facilities and many other critical aspects of the district. That is why it is so important to hear from you. You can give us your feedback by attending an upcoming "public input" meeting or Steering Committee meeting (check schedule below under "Meetings and Events" for details), or by contacting a Steering Committee or School Board member. District Visioning
Save the Date!
Plan now to attend the Best Practices Workshop for Billings Public Schools on Tuesday, September 20, from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. Led by visionary school planners from Fielding Nair International, this community-based workshop will discuss research-based best practices in K-12 education and explore community interest in applying these practices to create public schools meeting specific local goals and needs.
The workshop is the centerpiece of a three-day visioning process that will also include teacher, parent, student, and community focus groups to help decide what we want Billings Public Schools classrooms and school buildings to look like for the 21st century. Visioning results will be the basis for additional planning work in 2011-12, culminating in a facilities master plan (and subsequent bond elections) to create schools that support 21st century educational goals.
Additional information on all visioning events planned for September 19-22 will be posted as arrangements are made.
